The whole point with Stefan’s character being loosely defined was so the viewer could alter his personality to fit the narrative. We want to pull him in different directions like a puppetmaster pulling the strings. Black Mirror knows that an audience wouldn’t be happy with the ending where Stefan takes his medication and gets healthy.

We want to see how dark something will get. When Stefan is offered a choice to jump off a building, we want to make him do it just to see what happens.

But thankfully, this is just a pre-recorded piece of media. It’s not like Stefan is a real person that we are continually tormenting. All of this is fake.
