Paprika is a spice made by grounding up air dried red peppers. It is thought to have originally been a creation of Hungary, as the word Paprika comes from the Hungarian word for pepper. The spice spread to Spain in the sixteenth century, but it did not become popular until the nineteenth century.
Today, Paprika is used worldwide. It can be used to season meat or also as a garnish for other dishes. You might commonly see Paprika used to add some extra flavor and color to deviled eggs. It is not a very hot spice, and depending on the preparation can be very sweet.
Paprika really adds some extra punch to food. It can become truly overpowering if you use too much. Its bright red color is easily identifiable and can stand out above many other bland looking spices in the kitchen.
I regularly use Paprika when cooking. I think it works best with chicken dishes. Though I wouldn't recommend that you rely too much on this spice. Don't forget to add salt! It's the invisible spice that really brings out the true flavors of your meal.
Pepper, with its dark colors and smoky taste can work well in many recipes. However, if you use pepper and Paprika on the same dish, expect the red spice to completely overtake the black seasoning.
I made some scrambled eggs recently. It was a hearty meal, and very delicious with the addition of salt and Paprika. I ate it on a rooftop, where the man jumped to the tree.
I'll probably cook again. A completely different food this time. I get lost in the motion of the flames on the pan. I drift away and stare at the birds flying over the ferris wheel.
My fridge door opens and closes. I search for more food when I already have too much. It's loud here. There is no melody. I sometimes imagine that people are screaming.
The people on the screens all have my face.
The animals surround me.
The dolls laugh.
I need someone to guide me through this nightmare.
But there is one remaining issue.
I am not the dreamer.
