I'm on my sixth beer as I write this review. Because of this I've decidied to not correct any of my speeling or any of my punctuation. This honestly makes me feel like writing more fifficult words in order to test how weel I do.
It seems appropieate, because I don't think I wpuld be able to command a giant monster very well if I was very drunk.
People do dumb things when they're drunk. But they also do honest things. Being drunk can expose who we really are, and that exposure can lead to the realization that you might not be a very good person. Maybe you're just a mesup who will never get her life together and will conbtinue the cycles of destruction that your existence has become. Or maybe you will finally come to undertsnand that you are not, and never have been, a good person.
I was on the fense the first time I saw colossal. God damn it why did I think fence was spelled with an s.
I left the theater feeling weird and thinking that the film didn't work and felt awkard and that the dialog was sloppy and boring. But there were some parts that stuck with me. Honestly, some of the films that don't make you instantly feel like they were the greatest thing ever on the first viewing, can end up being something truly special.
As this film dwelled in my mind, I found that there was much more thought put into the kotivation of the main characters thaN I initailly assumed. jason Sudekis's character bends and twists in the audiences perspective, which mirrors how Anne hathaway's character sees him. First he is a likable dude. Than he slowly reveals that he has some anger and resentment toward those in a better position. Than you think he is motivated by a love toward Anne hatahway. But near the penultimate scene, we finally realize that he is a deeply flawed human being who cannot be redeemed, and that all he wants is to cause more chaos and drama in order to be seen as powerful by others.
Fuck. This is hard to describve right now. That's exactly why I chose to righ- write this review in this state of mind. Nearly every scene in this film has the character's drinking. People are rarely in a good state of mind. Everyone is just trying to deal with life.
All of the dialog feels like drunken small talkk: stories that lead nowhere and rqmbling discussions about things people already know. This is certainly intentioneal and adds to the film ona second viewing, but the fact that it lost me initially does take away some points from the film. Being intentionally stylish or intentionally bad can have artistic value, but I do think when you make something like this you are doing this to make a product that will be flawed.
This film will leave you with a lot to think about and a lot to discuss. It's legitamently interesting. It doesn't rely on its premise and actually packs the story full of dense elements that you may cath later on.
jason sudekis's character's mother died when he was young. This could be around the same time when he walked to scholl with Anne's character, and smashed her project. He was fueled by anger, and perhaps had no support from an uncaring father. He also has an ex wife, which could imply that he possibly repeated his father's mistakes and led an unsuspecing woman into an uncomprimising situation.
But Anne ha- Gloria sees through his facade of pain and breaks his calm desposition. The last scene was very satisfying for me. It kind of made me want to get a drink and talk about this movie with someone fun. Dtinking is fun. And I think this review is done.
