Brandersnatch only became more interesting upon repeat viewings. I kept wanting to push the media, to experiment with new combinations of choices and see what would happen. Thankfully, the film accounted for nearly every choice leading to something different. Even the choice of cereal at the beginning will come back in the form of an advertisement for your preferred brand!

Some may find this form of entertainment tedious. They may see it as a chore, as if they are required to watch through the film again and again in order to get everything out of it. But if are the kind of person who will delight at seeing a different type of cereal commercial on a second viewing, this movie is definitely for you.

I do wonder what it would be like if after our first watch, the movie suddenly locked down and refused to let us alter our choices. Then, you would be stuck in the world you chose. This could lead to some interesting discussions, as people talk to others about the personal story they chose to experience.

But I doubt that’s something Netflix would do.
